RIASQ Dinner Meeting - February 21, 2019
Presented by: RIASQ Chair: Ken Hayes
How effective are the business continuity plans, i.e. Contingency Plans, where you work? Is it a document that gets dusted off and presented when customers or auditors visit? Is it regularly updated and part of a dynamic risk assessment program? According to data from the Automotive Industry Action Group for companies audited during the transition from TS 16949 to IATF 16949, ineffective Contingency Planning was the third most frequent cause for a major nonconformance to be raised. Please join us for an interactive discussion on a local company’s journey from receiving that major nonconformance to then one year later having a system that auditors have evaluated as not only conforming but being “benchmarkable by other organizations”.
Ken Hayes has been the Section Chair for RIASQ since January, 2018. He holds ASQ certifications as a Quality Engineer and Six Sigma Green Belt. Since 1991 his industry work experience included management positions in production, sales, and customer service until he discovered his passion for quality engineering in 2006. These followed obtaining a BS in Industrial Technology during 11 years of honorable service in the US Navy, separating as a Chief Petty Officer. His duty stations included surface ships and the Surface Warfare Officer’s School in Newport, RI. As an instructor at SWOS holding certifications as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Engineering Officer of the Watch, and Master Training Specialist he taught engineering operations curricula to over 500 naval officers and foreign nationals annually.
